I'm hitting the road again at the end of February and for all practical purposes I won't be back in the US until I (hopefully!!!) start graduate school in the fall. Plane/train tickets have been purchased, guide books have been ordered, and some serious Spanish is being practiced. Here's the game plan for my next six months:
February 29: I leave for Peru with Cole. We'll be living in the same town my friend William lived in for a few months after high school, San Bartolo, about 30 miles south of Lima. It's unclear exactly what we'll be doing in terms of volunteering at this point, but it'll certainly be something very grass roots directly with the community. We'll be working there for 6 weeks, then traveling around the country for 4 weeks.
May 9-15: Short stop in the US for Jay's college graduation.
May 16: I fly to Norway with Jay for the start of the European adventure. There is no itinerary other than we're starting in Oslo and have a three-month unlimited Eurail Pass. At some point we'll be going to Poland for Jay's juggling festival and Portugal to meet my Dad and Lucinda. Anyone else want to come hang out with us for a while?
I know there are lots of more experienced travelers out there than me, so please send any Peru or Europe recommendations my way!
